Filip Mareš insists he won’t get carried away despite the fact he’s competing on his home round of the FIA ERC Junior Under 27 Championship from Friday onwards.

Mareš, part of the ACCR Czech National Team, starts Barum Czech Rally Zlín fresh from finishing second on Rally Rzeszow at the start of August.

But the Peugeot driver has pointed to the strong competition he’ll face and his lack of knowledge of the challenging asphalt event.

“After finishing second in Poland another podium has to be my aim although I know it won’t be easy because of the competition from the Opel drivers, Aleks Zawada, Simon Wagner and so on,” he said. “My personal goal will be to win some stages but it’s only my second proper start on this rally because in 2015 I had a problem with the gearbox. It’s also 300 kilometres from my home so I don’t know so well the area.”
